Celebrating the 1st Anniversary of The heART of a Woman Project South Africa

I am thrilled to announce that eKhaya eKasi Art & Education Centre, home to The heART of a Woman Project South Africa (thoawSA) will be hosting a mobile photography exhibition to celebrate the 1st anniversary of thoawSA.                               The exhibition will take place from November 22-December 6, 2014. It is recommended that you call ahead as the hours of operation may vary. The Opening Reception is Saturday November 22nd, 2014 from 1 to 3 pm and is by invitation only. Women’s Mobile Photography Co-op in South Africa Needs You

Our women's mobile photography cooperative in Khayelitsha, South Africa needs your help! A call for local & global volunteers & mentors, donations, sponsorship and ambassadors. It culminated in 11 days of workshops in photography, mobile technology, basic computer skills and social media. On November 30, 2013 each of the 9 participants received 200 postcards of one of their images to immediately begin selling in the on-site art boutique at eKhaya eKasi, their art & education centre in Khayelitsha, South Africa. The postcards have been selling and have already begun to make a difference. On Women’s Day 2014, I celebrate these mobile photographers in South Africa

Over the years, this day has grown to mean even more to me. It may have started with encouraging my oldest niece to follow her dreams, to encourage friends to not stand for how they are treated by their husbands/boyfriends or by signing petitions and speaking out for injustices against women in the world. Today, through my work in South Africa with 'heart of a woman', it means so much more. It is my every day. The workshop may have taken place in November 2013, but I continue to work hard for the women in The heART of a Woman Project South Africa. I am constantly in touch with Nwabisa Ndongeni, the participant we have chosen to lead the project under my guidance as I train and mentor her in…
